Our online format aligns with modern technology in ways that allow experienced Knowledge Keepers to connect with Indigenous fathers about various aspects in their healing journeys, such as mental, and emotional, and spiritual support.
Our on-site design of cultural programming and support services aim to provide Indigenous fathers meaningful experiences that can help them manage past, present, and potential future concerns in many aspects of their lives.
Talking circles, also called “peacemaking circles,” come from the traditions of Indigenous people. The intention of talking circles are based upon having equality between all the participants and the principle of sharing power with each other instead of having power over one another. Talking circles can be used for discussions, problem-solving, and/or decision making processes.
The role of the Talking Stick is highly honored and respected at EISPIFS. The traditional rules of the talking stick apply to all circle discussions. As it is individually passed around, the one who holds it must be allowed to speak their truth while the others listen respectively. Many times, an eagle feather is also used.
*The foundation of the talking circle protocols are based on the 7 Grandfather teachings, with each teaching having a place within the various levels of circles.
Much like talking circles, our sharing circles are a responsibility shared by everyone in attendance; listen with attention, and speak with intention. It is a symbol of respect to hold space for the thoughts, stories, and individual histories of each brother who shares. Our sharing circles are also led by Knowledge Keepers who infuse cultural and spiritual support services for Indigenous fathers by providing a safe place for connection and dialogue.
Our healing circles are a vital component to any brother's healing journey. With open minds, we work together to discover the best ways to remove obstacles to healing, alleviate suffering, and deepen our capacity to heal. With open hearts, we access our own inner guidance to understand where the greatest healing -- in body, emotions, mind and spirit -- can occur.
